Good News - Reduced Sickness Absence By Eating A Healthy Diet

During the summer of 2014 we worked with a number of Volvo Group UK employees with 12 week 1-2-1 telephone based healthy eating programmes.  If you would like more details of these programmes please click here. 

At the time one of these employees was regularly off work sick and the brief was to improve the immune system to help improve health and wellbeing and reduce absence from work. 

This person ate a diet high in processed high fat, high sugar foods, did not achieve 5-A-DAY and did not take regular exercise.  Plus this person’s family was very young and the children were regularly bringing germs back into the household from school.

Therefore there was a lot of work to do to help this person make sustainable dietary changes, improve health and wellbeing and resist many of the bugs the children brought home. 

We worked alongside this person to provide down to earth healthy eating information to help improve the health of the family with regular weekly calls.  Food was recorded on a food diary and we provided the help and support necessary to make long term dietary changes that fitted with this person’s working and personal lifestyle.

The good news in that since starting this programme in June 2014 this person has had a single absence of 5 days in February 2015 with a viral infection.
