Finding a balance between your personal life and work life is often challenging and can seem like an uphill struggle for most. 23% of us are unhappy with our work-life balance, but why?

 

When we feel overwhelmed we often put ourselves at the bottom of our list of priorities. For example, we work too many hours, we skip meals, we fail to drink enough water and our quality and length of sleep is compromised.

Here are a few facts to digest:

  • Longer working hours are associated with higher levels of anxiety and lower levels of happiness.
  • Skipping meals will impair your concentration and energy in the short term. In the long term, you are risking anemia, bone loss, thyroid function impairment, decreased immunity and worsening dental health.
  • Research has shown that drinking more than 5 glasses of water per day can reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.
  • Not getting enough sleep? Obesity, heart disease, diabetes, headaches, depression, premature death. These are all health complications that you are putting yourself at a greater risk for.

 

Simply, it is vital to prioritise yourself in order to achieve a successful and satisfying work-life balance, because lets face it, you’re no good to anyone else if you’re no good to yourself.
